In FEEL O.K. London-based artist David Blamey invites the audience to rest for 40 minutes, as he administers the latest iteration of his ongoing O.K. sound project. In reference to meditation tapes and mantras various field recordings are compiled and folded into repetitions of the word O.K. to create an immersive sonic experience.
This project first evolved from an ink drawing by the artist of the word O.K., which he made in India in 2008. O.K. is the world’s most widely understood word denoting acceptance, approval or compliance. When the word is repeated, it begins to lose its universal meanings to become something entirely different. Banality takes new forms when repetition is utilized to create change.
